"Walsuk and Ox"

Legends are woven through extraordinary tales of heroes defeating the odds, saving the day and rescuing princess'... or, Princes, in this case. Their very fabrics hold together such intreaging and intoxicating tales, giving hope to those whose deeds go unsung; a non existent chord; their breaths being taken by the chimes of the winds. I'm going to take you back in time to a place where some called the golden ages. King Yuri was still very exuberant and young and full of promise for a long, thriving rule. People helped one another in these juvenile stages of Koguryo. Take a seat in these inns, where, ironically, my story first takes place, and have a cup of tea. I will tell you of a hero, or rather, heroine, whose deed went unsung; page by page.

"Walsuk, Walsuk hunny, come here!" The inn-keeper yelled out. "That girl of mine... Probably off wandering with that blacksmith's child... He's trouble, that one. Don't know what she sees in him..." A girl, then, ran into the inn. She had flaming red hair that was as long and silky as that of a royal horse. Cute freckles plagued her face, which was partly concealed by long bangs and a beautiful, large grin.

"I'm here, mommy!" Said the girl, who couldn't have been more than seven or eight.

"Walsuk, go fill these soup bowls for the customers," The woman said while straightening the concession stand. It had various liquors that I was itching to try... but of course, I was only
a child.

The girl turned to me bearing a crooked tooth grin, flashing her eyes are she spoke to me.

"What's your name?" She said. I couldn't believe this pretty girl was talking to me. Me!

"Um..er... well my name is.. uh..." I was dumbfounded by her beauty enough to have me studdering.

"That's a weird name," Walsuk giggled. "I've never heard of someone called 'uh'!"

Regrouping myself, I answered again, this time with a tad more confidence. "It's Ox."

She flickered another butterfly inducing smile. "Hi, Ox, my name is Walsuk! I've got to help mom with the store for a bit, but maybe after, we can go play!"

I couldn't answer her before she jogged off to the kitchen, carrying wooden bowls and spoons. "Walsuk..." I thought to myself. "That's an angel's name..." My thoughts carried on
while I was loitering around the tavern. Unbeknownst to me, however, I found myself treading dangerous waters... well, all right, puddles. I slipped on the water from a drying mop job, and then blackness consumed me.

"..ox.. wake up.. are you okay?" I heard a voice say in the distant. My eyes were blurred as they opened, but the image in front of me was unmistakable. It was the most beautiful face I had ever seen.

"Walsuk..." I found myself saying, abandoning all shyness that earlier plagued me. "What happened?" I scratched my head to find bandages wrapped around the top of my forehead.

"I found you lying on the floor, I was worried," She said.

<b>    She was worried... about me!?

"Well thanks a lot! I don't even remember it happening... My head still sure does hurt a lot though..." I said, my bashness coming back to me.

She then said something that is true, and is still true to this day.

"Well, I guess I'll have to look after you from now on, then!" She said, planting a big wet kiss on my bandaged forehead. My skin instantly got prickly hot.

As you might know... Walsuk and I are married and now manage
her mother's old store together. Okay, so maybe I'm not a handsome prince that got rescued by a beautiful woman. ...Well, I may not be a handsome prince, by I did get rescued by a beautiful heroine that day many, many yuri ago. You may know of her services as a inn keeper to the community... but her true tales of unsung heroships lay forever in my memory. This was just an insight. She's more than a local maid who sells liquors and soup and apples. She's more than an inns-keeper who gives beds to the sick and needy, for free I might add. She is a hero in her own right, unsung but still singing.
